Though I've been extremely busy, still, like to read some books. Reading gives me inner peace.
The list for this month -
One Shot - by Lee Child.- a thriller, a Jack Reacher novel, one of the series (he also wrote Killing Floor, Die Trying, Tripwire, Running Blind, Echo Burning, Without Fail, Persuader, The Enemy)
Wetback Nation -The Case for Opening the Mexican-American Border - by Peter Laufer, he has reported from Mexico and the Borderlands for more than 20 years, as an NBC News correspondent. I start to get interested in spanish culture. How they get to America. They are probably similar to Chinese, in one way or another. It is always interesting to explore another culture, especially from an immigration point.
Becoming Justice Blackmun - Harry Blackmun's Supreme Court Journey - by Linda Greenhouse, winner of the Pulitzer Prize. .. for some reason, I start to like reading things about law, it helps to understand the humanity side of this country.
Elwood's Blues - Interview with the Blues Legends & Stars - by Dan Aykroyd and Ben Manilla. I like blues, but at the same time, I don't know much about it. Just like to know a little more about the legends. Suffering makes the blues deeper than pop. Rap is more angry, while blue kind of consolidate the feelings.
The Hardness Factor - How to Achieve your Best health and Sexual Fitness at Any Age - by Steven Lamm. M.D. - It's also about time to take care of my health. ==>> flipped through, it's not for women. It's for man only, about their hardness. -- one book down from my list -- 8/23/05
Live at 10:00, Dead at 10:15 - by Elsa Klensch. She's one of the most recognizable names and faces in the world of fashion, design, and luxury goods. (well, i haven't heard of her). At least it looks witty & light to read, after all the heavy stuff I had chosen. -- I am wrong. It is not light reading, it's a thriller, a murder. Still, I enjoyed, though I figured out who was the killer somewhat at the first 1/3 of the book. The book described some women, strong, in control women, who had clear mind of what they want to do with their lives. There are always charactor flaws, but I admire for their courage and skills suriving in this tough world.
Seems it's enough books to keep me busy.
