Grigory Perelman

When people tell me that somebody is of some character, my heart is full of admire to that person.

It is difficult to be consistently successful.

It is difficult to be consistently important.

It is also difficult to be consistently different.

I don’t want to say anything about Perelman’s contribution to or his position in the mathematician community since I know nothing about Poincaré conjecture. I admire this guy because he is an ideal scientist with a pure mind. He cares about nothing else but science. He stays away from superficial things like honors, reputation, prizes, money, crowds. After so many years, I know how difficult it is to resist all those temptation. He is a Ying Shi in the modern society.
