His primary lyrical focus is on environmental themes. During his childhood in San Diego, Lien would visit his father in Whitehorse, Yukon each summer, eventually moving there when he was 16. Lien is highly regarded in Taiwan for his environmental music and his work with aboriginal people there. His profile in Taiwan is such that he is even sought for commercial endorsements.
