I am quite behind on capturing some of the blogging materials I have jotted down as time goes along. I was going to write about Olivia's 8th year birthday celebration on that very day but it has been over two months now and I still haven't done so…Anyway, it's better late than never!
I still remember Olivia was in a very cheerful mood all day long on her birthday. She was very happy when we greeted her happy birthday after she got up and after the school she chose her favorite restaurant "Macaroni Grill" to celebrate her birthday.
Right after we went into the restaurant, she told the young man at the front desk that it was her birthday that day. After we were seated, she started to draw balloons and flowers on the table "cloth" (a sheet of white paper the size of the table) and wrote "Happy Birthday, Olivia!" in all different colors. Evan started to draw on his side too. He drew a tent with heart all over it. Inside the tent, he and Olivia were sitting on their chair and a birthday cake with lighting candles was on a table between them.
Olivia sang a funny song to us which made us all laugh while we were waiting for the food, it went like this:
Happy birthday to me
I am one hundred and three
I still go to pre-school
And I love my mommyJ
Olivia and Evan each ordered their favorite dish and ate them all up. We then ordered a small chocolate cake. A couple of waitresses and waiters delivered the cake with the candle to us and one of the waiters sang the happy birthday song in Italian to her which was pretty cool.
After they left, Evan wanted to do the happy birthday song again so he sang to his sister across the table and bent over to give her a kiss, it was so sweetJ.
Olivia was all smiles during the entire evening and screamed with happiness when she found her birthday present in the living room after we got home – it was a Hello Kitty sewing machine!
The reason we got her the sewing machine was that Olivia has a lot of webkinz and she wants her webkinz to wear those cute "outfits" she saw on the internet which are sold like $25 each. After we told her that there is no way for us to spend that kind of money on clothes for her stuffed animals, she decided to make them herself. We bought some fabrics from A.C. Moore and she started to cut and sew for her webkinzs. In fact she made clothes for her friends' webkinzs too! And that's where the whole idea of a sewing machine as her birthday gift came fromJ.
