How I see my wife -- by Lepton's 老公

When I was asked to write this article about how I see my wife, I didn't really want to at first. So much pressure and so open ended. What could I possibly write? But then I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I thought I should start by listing all the qualities that I admire about her. She is beautiful, smart, loving, down to earth, honest, gracious, supportive, encouraging, friendly, outgoing, fun, and funny. She's an amazing wife, a wonderful mother, a great cook. She is my best friend. She is sure of herself and doesn't care what others think of her. She is calm under pressure. She doesn't ask much of me other than to spend some quality time with her and show her I love her. She respects me and I am totally secure in her love. Just so you won't think that I don't see any faults in her, she's stubborn, can be critical at times, is a little bossy, and has a bit of a temper. Okay, that's enough, I don't want to get into trouble.

Now, how could I capture all of that in words? So, I thought of some famous comparisons.

Shakespeare wrote "Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day..."
Frank Sinatra sang "You are the sunshine of my life"
Adam said Eve was "bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh"
King Solomon compared his bride (mostly her body parts) to lots of things: a mare, a dove, a lily among thorns, twin fawns of a gazelle, a fountain, a palm tree, an ivory tower, a flock of goats... (He may have been the wisest man, but he seemed to have only one thing on his mind)

There I was in the bathroom, brushing my teeth and staring in the mirror when I was enlightened. I had found the object that best reflects her values and her value to me. Now it was easy to write, because this is how I see my wife (see if you can guess what I am talking about):

She likes things to be spotlessly clean.
She likes it when the room is bright and shiny.
When she is steamed, she hides herself.
When I see her, I like what I see.
I see her everyday.
I can do all the mundane things in front of her and she doesn't get bored of me.

With her, what you see is what you get.
I am not embarrassed to be naked in front of her.
She doesn't hide anything from me and I can't hide anything from her.
I can and must be myself in front of her.

When I smile, she smiles. When I laugh, she laughs. When I cry, she cries.
She's a great listener.

She shows me the best of myself and the worst of myself.
She shows me things I didn't know about myself.
I can trust her opinions, she's very honest about me.
When she compliments me, I know it's really what she sees and I can delight in her praises.
When she criticizes me, I know it's for my own good.
She reminds me of the good she sees in me everyday.

You see, whenever I look at her, I see my life and how truly blessed I am.

"Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the luckiest man of them all?"
