From Bayeux we drove to Mont Saint Michel, a rocky tidal island famous for the abbey built in 708. The drive was easy except that the closer we were to Mont Saint Michel, the thicker the fog was.

1. The fog.

2. Mont Saint Michel was about 100 yards in front of us, but we couldn't see a thing.

3. Standing just outside the wall of Mont Saint Michel.

4. To reach the abbey, you have to climb many stairs.

5. Fog was still thick.

6. At the Cloister of Mont Saint Michel Abbey.

7. This wheel was installed around 1820 in order to hoist provisions to the prisoners held in the abbey when it was turned into a prison.

8. It seemed the fog was getting thinner, so we went back to the abbey's terrace. Visibility had improved, but we still couldn't see the main land.

9. Finally after lunch, the sun came out. This photo was taken at the same place where #2 was taken.

10. Mont Saint Michel.
