今天是基督降临预备主日， 是圣诞以前的第四个主日。教会的历史传统， 在这一段时间，为了基督降临人世和他每天临到我们的生命中， 以及基督在末世再次来临做准备，思考基督降临给我们的生命带来怎样的希望和改变。
基督带来世界的光， 能穿透灵魂的黑暗，跟从他的就脱离黑暗， 有了生命的光。 牧师举了个例子，为什么有人不喜欢光，喜欢黑暗， 因为黑的时候， 看不见房间有垃圾需要清扫，因此可以什么都不做。 而喜欢光照的人， 就能看见垃圾，就得清扫灰尘垃圾。
黑暗的危险很大， 因为看不见前头的路，等于是瞎子一样。圣经形容这些人的生命光景： 2 Corinthians 4 v4 “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God”.
但神使生命的光在信他的人心中闪耀： 2 Corinthians 4 v6 ： “For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ”
要经历他的光照在我们生命中， 需要我们选择去把灯的开关打开。 这是神和人的一个奇妙的合伙事业。 But just like every light needs to be switched on, it’s the same with the light of Jesus Christ. We still need to touch the switch if we are going to experience His light in our lives.
这个开关就是我们的思想内容的选择。今天这个主日就是一个好机会思考基督为我们生命带来了什么。通过以赛亚先知的预言可以来进行这样的思考。 Advent is a great opportunity for doing this. There are many ways we do so. One is by reflecting on the prophecies of the coming Messiah. Like this one in Isaiah chapter 9.
以赛亚 先知所在的时代是犹太人内忧外患的时代， 当时犹太人分裂成南国犹大和北国以色列。南国犹大国面临的情况是，内有亚哈斯王的残酷统治， 外有亚述和以色列入侵的威胁。但人们不是转向神， 却转向神秘巫术。如常言说的：“当人们不信上帝时， 他们不是什么都不信了， 而是什么都信。”
神差以赛亚先知向这个黑暗的时代宣告说：
9 章 2 节 . “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light” That “on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned”. 在基督降世前，神的光对于接受他的人已经存在了。 今天， 基督已经降临世上， 可人们仍然并不承认他就是世界的光。 John 1 v9 says “The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him”.
神不强求任何人接受他， 而是给了每个人掌握开关的权利，自己作出选择， 是否点亮心中的那盏灯。
圣经描述了人们不接受光进入他们生命的原因，因为他们选择躲在黑暗中，不愿看见和清扫垃圾，不愿使邪恶的行为曝露在光明之下。 John 3 v19 “This is the verdict. Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.”
但是，如果你不喜欢垃圾，喜欢光，又怎么样呢， 圣经接着说： (v21) “But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God”. 这是说， 你若不喜欢垃圾， 最好是打开灯， 行在光明中， 让人看到神在你生命中行了妙手改造的奇事。神要以赛亚先知和今天的我们都这样做。
这意味着什么呢，神要我们作什么呢。他差以赛亚宣告这个信息： “to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders”.
掌权执政的是耶稣基督，责任在他肩上。 那么， 我们是象我们对待和我们意见不同的政府那样， 仅仅容忍他的存在呢， 还是多大程度上同意自己生命被他掌管。 这是一个重大问题。如果人们看不清上帝掌权给他们带来的无尽益处，就不可能给他们热爱黑暗的思想带来挑战。
圣经说过神的儿女要活出一个不同的生命， 因为上帝掌管，他们的生命能像星星在夜空中闪耀。 Philippians chapter 2 v15 it tells us to live as children of God – as those who are under His reign and rule. “To live as children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life”.
