(Robert Frost)

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound\'s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The darkest evening of the year(一年中最漆黑的一天),To watch his woods fill up with snow。

And miles to go before I sleep(在我沉睡之前,还有很长的一段路要走),这里的沉睡,一般都认为暗喻死亡,那么The woods are lovely, dark and deep的woods,也是指死亡,它可以让你摆脱人世间的种种烦恼,不幸,而进入永恒的平静,这难道不是lovely,难道还有什么比死亡更dark和deep吗?
But I have promises to keep(但我还有一些承诺要完成),因此我还有很长的一段路不得不走。
