My neighbor's new born baby was also bitten by ticks because his backyard had bushes. He was very angry so he rented a machine to get rid of the bushes. If your house surrounding has no bushes then you are safer since ticks are mostly coming from deer which felt tick bites and wants to rub itself again bushes to get rid of it.
It is uncurable but you will survive if treated right. Be sure to check your entire body to find the telltale sign of bulls eye after you are in contact with bushed. For unreachable places, use mirror or ask your spine to check.

I got bitten twice by ticks when I was in New Haven, CT where it is close to Lyme, CT, which the name of Lyme disease is coming from.
I got it when I did the yard work. I found it by feeling a bit dull pain. That is, just slight discomfort. When I looked at the place during shower, bingo, I got the bulls eye which is telltale sign of tick bite with dark tick in the middle of a red circle. At the time I was pretty in panic since I know it is uncurable. After I read more detail, I found if you removed it in 36-48 hours then you are fine (for unknown reason). I did remove it in 24 hours by using brute force (not recommended by info in the internet, Ha). I got it again a few years later, again, during yard work and removed it the same way. In both cases, I still can see faint mark of the tick bites after 10 years but I am OK.
