A Verse by Nalan Xingde
Ah, who’d heed the lonely hissing west wind so chill?
Shrouding carved windows, autumn leaves shed with a shrill.
I ponder the past, in afterglow, standing still.
O ne’er ashamed of deep spring sleep allured by wine,
Bets on verse, to win the first tea drink, Jack and Jill.
Which, taken for granted, now we cannot fulfill.
