Parents should obtain an InfoPass appointment and appear at the USCIS for new biometrics: Fingerprints and pictures and complete the application to renew a greencard. While many children may not have had any problems traveling (i.e. re-entering the United States) with the greencard they received prior to turning age 14, they may encounter some problems when applying to receive other types of formal identification such as learners permits and driver’s licenses. Some Department of Motor Vehicle offices are requiring those individuals whose pictures were taken prior to them turning 14 to have updated greencards in order to provide them with their driving permits.
