hi and bye

cc waves her hands to sign for "hi" and "bye". i always to wonder whether she could differentiate these two words.

we were in the elevator with an elderly lady. she was coughing badly and i was praying she would not touch cc (worry about the germs). too bad, my prayers didn't work. she was holding out her hand while she asked for the permission. i quickly told her that cc dislikes touches of strangers. at the same time, cc moved backward to avoid her hand with unhappy face. she then stopped and praised cc a good girl.

almost right after that, the door opened. cc quickly waved her hand and said "bye bye" to the elderly lady. she was shocked but smile delightly and praised cc again.

cc saw there was a middle age woman stood at the other side of the door, she quickly waved her hand again and said "hi". again, cc received praises from both of the women.

now, i think it's safe for me to say that cc understands what is "hi" and "bye bye".
