First Day at Daycare

Today is Cheryl's first day in daycare. Long time ago, we started talking about daycare with Cheryl. In her opinion, it is a place with a lot of toys, children and friendly teachers just like Mom. So she must be expecting to visit such a wonderful place. We also encourage her to bring the little duck with her, and she promised to take care of the duck. I also take this week vacation to help her transition.

Early morning, we set breakfast table as usual and Cheryl demanded Mom to feed her, but I only helped her a bit. As usual, she would fazz then be calmed down by her grandma or dad knowing that I would not come back even she cried. I doubt this would weaken our connection, but so far, I am still her dearest mom.
We arrived at the daycare at around 9am. Cheryl waved good bye to daddy and we stepped into the house. Every teacher is greeting her friendly. A teacher gave us a tour through the playing rooms for older kids and finally we reached the toddler room. Cheryl was attracted by the line of car toys along the wall. We said hello to Windy and Sorica and wait for Sandy, a girl that can speak Mandrin. She will be the major care-giver to Cheryl until she gets familar with the environment then she will be transfered to class for older kids. I am not sure about this part but it might be a good idea to stay with olders so that she can improve herself faster.
I chatted a bit about my daughter with Sanddy and left when kids started their outdoor activity. I told Cheryl, I will pick her up after lunch and she said, "Bu Yao" means "No". But when Sanday blows a lot of bubble and hold her in her arm, she forgot about separation pain. Later on, I called to check her out. Sanddy said she is doing OK and I reminded her to take Cheryl to toillet. Sanddy said she would try. Grandma was worried about Cheryl more. So at around 11:30, I brought grandma with me and made a second visit to daycare today. Upon arrival, another girl greeted us and said she is doing good. We went to the door to toddle room, and hide behind the door. I saw my little girl was wandering around the room and patting each toy. She looks calm. And the girl told us she ate well and suggested us to leave her for nap time. It sounds a good idea, because this might help her to setup the routine faster. So we left and will take her back at around 2:30pm.

I don't know if she peed yet, if she ate enough, if she would cry knowing Mom would pick her up later than promised. My little princess would be fine. She is strong and smart knowiing all her family are always there for her. She will learn English, know more firends, she will have a lot of fun in Daycare. (1:01pm, Aug 04, 2009)
