Have tried so many recipes for our traditional manto and steamed buns. This one is the best so far
Ingredient -
6 cups flour,
1/4 cup sugar
2 cup warm water
1 TBS baking powder
1 TBS yeast
2 TBS shortening or butter
Steps:
1. In the bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water then add the yeast and baking powder
2. Let the liquid stand for ten minutes or until the yeast becoms foamy and floats to the top.
3. sift the flour into a bowl. Add 2) and the shortening and mix well. If the dough is too dray, Add water; if too moist add flour.
4. Knead the dough with the heels of one or both hands until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a bowl and cover it with a sheet at plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about two hours until it has tripled in bulk.
