Signal Hill rises abruptly above the Narrows that separate St. John's Harbour from the Atlantic Ocean. First known as the lookout, Signal Hill has been used for communication, observation and defence 1704. This iconic hill was designated as a National Historic Site in 1958.
North Head Trail is 4 km in length, and is very popular with St. John's locals, they work out on this trail, running it up and down, over and over.
