Hiding Place
___________________________________
it was in our hiding place
you opened the purple box
of your childhood
with rainbows arching over fresh
grassland and creeks
from which we both drank
and fearlessly swam
in the cool water of a bottomless night
a pair of fish-like souls
hugging tight in each
other's shadow
while hiding
we traveled together
through a city underneath
the earth
following the sounds of
childhood friends
their laughter was a flock
of migrating geese
we flew with them
grew as the flight grew longer
we had all season
we wished for
fire burning low
behind your eyes
lights out
i saved you from
an unloved flower
& undressed you
together we composed
the first poem
in our hiding place
