The view on tall and handsome

When I started to go out with my then boyfriend, now husband, in college, one friend said, "I thought you would date someone tall, thin, pale-skinned, wearing wire-brimmed glasses, most of all, one that fits into good looking type." Though understandable, it sounded funny to me. Having had a handsome, smart man in my life for almost twenty-two years, I was less sensitive to good look and cared more about personalities and ambitions underneath the facial appearance. The judgment on one's look could vary from different people with different point of views. Not having many tall people around me, I would feel comfortable with people of a couple of centimeters above average height. Though I am now getting used to the height of my son who is already 6'2" at the age of 19, with him away in college, I always feel towered over by his tall figure each time I see him.
