- don’t go outside official camping grounds
- if sleeping in the car or trailer, park the car on flat ground
- beware of poisonous insects, plans and animals, as well as wild animals
- tent: don’t set your tent on top of a hill or at the bottom of a valley, try to put the opening towards the slope and in the wind (not against the wind). When setting up the tent, if it is windy, keep the tent as close to the ground as possible. If extremely windy, use big weights on the corners of the tent. If it’s raining, don’t touch the roof of the tent.
- don’t camp under trees or at the bottom of cliffs
- don’t keep valuables in your car or trailer
- if camping far away from a city, do enough shopping for groceries
- make sure you have enough gasoline
- use a flashlight or torch with a battery rather than with gas
- don’t smoke in the tent
- beware of brush fires (forest fires)
