Lucy likes to ask where do things come from.
Everyday she starts to ask from the moment she wakes up until she goes to bed.
Breakfast time, she asks where does weetbix come from? Looking at garden from the patio door, she asks where does flower come from? Where does tree come from?
When she is eating apple, she asks where does apple come from? Where does seed come from?
Lunchtime she asks where does bread come from? Where does vegetable come from?
There are some tricky ones, where does lights come from? How do I explain to her in simple scientific way? My poor brain! There are some funny ones. Where does baby come from? My answer is baby comes from mummy’s tummy. She seems like the answer a while. When she is using toilet, she asks where does wee wee and poopoo come from? She has her own answers for this one, wee wee comes from tummy, poopoo comes from tummy too. Then she is quite concerned, “ baby comes from tummy too?” I have to explain, “ There are different tummies, and there is the baby tummy, wee tummy, poopoo tummy….”
There is one I really regret to give the right answer. She asked where does teddy come from? She has a favourite teddy bear. She brings with her everywhere, and this teddy sleeps on her pillow at night. I told her as a matter of fact, “ Teddies come from teddy factory, and workers make them, then ship them to the shops, and daddies and mummies buy them for their children.” She asked again once, and I decided to use my limited imagination this time, “ There is this teddy land, rainbow fairy live in teddy land…” Lucy said, “ no mum, teddy comes factory.”
