Ignorance #1: "Jesus Christ" everywhere!s
I was very surprised after I came to this so call "the most advanced" country and found more than half of people take Bible literally. For me, it doesn't take a genius to acknowledge the fact that we, the human just can't be so certain (rationally) about the existence of such a omnipotent & omnibenevolent being. And it doesn't take a genius to realize that while Jesus Christ was most likely a true historical figure, his later story of being a God was just made by his followers based on the need of historical and religious situation. And it doesn't take a genius to realize that there are bunch of nonsense in the Bible, both in old and new testament.
Well, I try to ignore this, but when I meet christians at every single corner I turn, tell me how?
Ignorance #2: Homosexuals are abnormal!
While most homosexuals feel perfectly fine with their love relationship or sexual behavior, most of people living on this planet think that they are not. They either believe gays and lesbians should be put in asylum, or, they need help.
Of course there is no doubt that some (or many) homosexual persons do not feel "right" about what they are, but this is not because of their sexual-orientation itself, instead, it is due to the fact that they know they could not be accepted by this world if they cannot change themselves, which they cannot. They have to either lie to others, marry somebody they do even have any sexual interest, or, they have to open themselves up by taking the risk of being rejected from the world, even from their own family, parents or siblings.
And again, for me, it doesn't take a genius to understand that homosexuals are also human being, just like everybody else. It doesn't take a genius to learn that homosexuals existed since the beginning of human history. Homosexual behavior was not prohibited until certain point of history, due to certain social or historical reasons. Of course, Bible says homosexuals are immoral. But please, open your eye, look at gays people, are they really crazy? Or, it is you who feel unnatural to see them while they are perfectly natural?
Again, I want to ignore this, ignore the fact that people are so "innocently" condemned gays and lesbians, but when I see so many people seems so "scared" of just talking about this topic, when I see a gay teenager was shot months ago by his classmate and new media chose to brush it off, I just don't know how.
To be continued…
*By putting christianity at the first I don’t mean that christians are the most ignorent people in the world. Anybody who believe a personal God (or Gods) to me is equally ignorent. However, what strikes me is in such an advanced country, while we could get so much information and knowledge from anywhere we want (books, internet, and from people with different opinions), people still so stubbornly stick on something so behind.
