At the dinner table during the weekend, my son Ethan (3.5) used a pair of chopsticks as his "violin" and started saying nursery rhythms.
He asked his little sister Emma (1.5), "What do you want, Xiao Miemie"?
"Itsy" Emma shouted while her hands doing the Itsy Bitsy Spider fingerplay
"Okay". Ethan started singing. "The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout....down came the rain....".
" No, no, no no", Emma stopped him, and waived her hand quickly. "Twinkle" She demanded with her hands doing the star sparkles.
" Twinkle, twinkle, little star".... Ethan switched immediately.
" No, no, no no", Emma didn't want it either. She signaled for itsy bitsy spider again.
Ethan asked, "Do you want Itsy Bitsy Spider again"?
"Yeah"! A firm reply from Emma.
Ethan switched back to itsy bitsy spider happily...
It went on for maybe for 10 minutes, I laughed so hard that I almost fell off my chair.
Daddy said, "Son, you're getting some good training for your future dating life".
