谢谢大家的关注，本来是想讨论长期投资的问题。 谈的方向有点超出投坛的常规主题。 本人对政治一向不感兴趣，也没有动机对中国政府歌功颂德，因为长期生活在美国。只想客观的分析问题。 让我很惊讶的是本坛竟然有相当一部分人，（至少从跟帖的人数看，也许多数人不说话）仍带着有色眼镜看待中国发生的一切。 这让我回想起十几年前刚到美国的时候，最时髦的谈论就是中国如何如何不好，美国如何好。 在当时，的确有相当一部分是事实。 但在十几年后的今天，在中国和世界发生了如此巨大的变化后还有这么多人持相同的观点，着实让人吃惊。
美国有不少有识之士，如对美国和中国的发展有着深刻的认识。 对美国国际事务有重要影响力，曾三次荣获普利策奖的纽约时报的专栏作家 Thomas Fridman.
看看他是如何看待中国的发展的，也许对这些人有所启发。 Thomas Fridman 在不久前接受 BBC 记者采访时说过这么一段话：
Well, I think you have to understand the rise of china is happening, I say this as an American
At a time when we are stagnating. So it's not just that we are rising, china's rising, and may be
China's relatively rising a little faster. I would argue it's coming at a time when America has never been more paralyzed, more at war with itself at home, more stagnating in the areas of infrastructure, education, precisely the areas we see china vaulting ahead on.
问题不是中国在增长，美国也在增长，而中国的增长更快些那么简单，而是目前在美国从没有过的停滞不前，更多精力放在内耗的当下，中国正在美国停滞不前的领域基础建设和教育等方面迎头赶上。 （注：停滞不前和内耗不止也曾经是中国的身影。）
What's most unsettling about china to Americans, is not their communism, it's their capitalism.
We see in China, things we used to see in ourselves, can do, get it done, hard work, sacrifice, own the future. That used to be us. And now we see it in them.
中国最让美国人担心的不是他们的共产主义（社会主义），而是他们的资本主义。从中国我们看到自己过去的身影。 敢于去做，去完成，努力工作，牺牲个人，拥有未来，我们过去正是这样。 而现在我们看到他们这样。
If we go weak, your kids won't just grow up in a Different America, they will grow up in a different world. And it's a world where somebody else will be setting a lot of the rules, and dictationg a lot of, you know, who does what, where when and how. But I know what world I would want my kids to grow up in, and it's world where there is a strong America Conterbalancing a strong and thriving China, not one where you have a strong and rising China and an America that is at war with itself, uncertain, weak and really unable to project power, economically and militarily, the way it historically did.
但愿这些客观和切中美国时弊的谈话可以去掉一些人的有色眼镜。 顺便说一声，你能带给在美国出生不熟悉中文的孩子最好的礼物之一是教会他们中文，以增加他们的竞争力。
