二型糖尿病遗传还是占主导地位，中国以前的饮食还是比较健康的，近几十年糖尿病急剧增加的垃圾食品和运动过少造成的，把这些有潜在遗传因素的人挖掘了出来。之所以说遗传是主要，因为中国糖尿病患者与欧美患者比，肥胖的要相对少得多，很多是瘦肉型的。亚洲的糖尿病患病率非常高，有可能与我们的食物大量是碳水化合物有关，试想一碗炸酱面全是碳水化合物，馒头米饭等，这对胰腺是个大负担。肥胖患者血糖稍高，是因胰岛素敏感度降低，那不是糖尿病，减肥多运动，血糖很快就正常了。但对于真正糖尿病患者，要减少碳水化合物，多纤维多蛋白，千万要控制量，要运动而不要少运动！经过1至2年的饮食运动疗法，血糖仍在诊断标准以上，要加药物治疗。

所以早期糖尿病的治疗是：therapeutic life style change.
