When I grew up in the old rambler house
everything was vast
30-50 yard tall Chinese Parasol trees
bamboo in the backyard
fields 40 yards away beyond the backyard
where our school grew wheat, sweat potato, corn and soy beans
mountains only a few miles away
and from the bedroom windows
Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum was right there
close enough to the city and close enough to be in the wildness
But when I went back in 2004
the bus stop I used to waiting for the bus to school was lot closer than I could remember
Not sure it was because my strides were bigger
or always in a hurry as in States
and just not as layback as a kid used to be
