The talent code - book review

I just finished the book The Talent Code. I wish I could have read it earlier when my little girl was younger. Anyway it is not too late to learn the concept. The key thing is to apply the points to the day to day life.

The book concludes that the preborn gift does not matter to a person's success. Deep practice and continuing motivation are the key to success. Deep practices can be broken into three portions: to chunk a big piece into small ones, to practice each small peiece repeatedly, and to enjoy the flow of the practice.

In addition, it is recommended that when praise a child tell him/her that their hard work is much appreciated. The kid will keep the praise in mind and work harder for the next project. When telling a group of children how deep practice works, they can deal with learning difficulties more calmly and make more progress.

Deep practice can also used to defeat aging. Keep learning new skills will prevent elderly people from mental/neuro disease.

I have read another article before. It has the similiar point that anyone can become an expert after 10,000 hours of practice. Think about anything you have dreamed about, such as writing, playing piano, paiting, dancing, skiing, tennis, and English. As long as you keep working on your goal, you can grasp it and enjoy it.

My problem is I want them all and life is too short.
