致爱

今天是胜利日,然而脑子想的不是二战,却是前女友。所以在此上传曾经为她写的两首诗和之前画的画。

It's Victory Day today. Yet somehow, what hits my mind is not anything related to World War 2, but my ex girl friend. Hence, I post the poems I wrote to her and the drawing I drew before, in memory of what I once had. The poems were respectively written around Spring of 2013 and November of 2014 whilst the picture was drawn earlier.

To My Love

致 爱 )

Trees start to germinate,
flowers begin to bloom.
Without you beside,
my world and heart still gloom.
For the affection and feeling between us two,
I'm with all my passion looking forward to a room.
Shall I summon up courage to come,
or merely let the hope of love doom?
Sometimes things go up and down,
isn't it usual as waxed and waned moon?
But no matter how far away from me you are,
I always wish, in my heart, to make you the bride and myself the groom.

My ex girl friend Miss Vaughan informed me of meeting her mom one year after our separation. I was so scared that I didn't want to meet her mom. But what could I do? Thus, I wrote her a poem in style of Yao Sui's "Mail the Wintercoat" in the pattern of "Watcher-on-the-Porch" (姚燧《凭阑人 · 寄征衣》).

Central Plain Opera: "Short Poem - To Meet Miss Vaughan's Mom"   (越调《小令 · 见汪母》)

To meet your mom? I'm totally scared.                                                   (欲见令堂胆先寒)
Not to meet your mom? My restlessness is bared.                                  (不见令堂心难安)
To meet or not to meet, Catch-22 is flared.                                             (见与不见间,妾身千万难)

I would rather use 妾身 than 小生 to reveal how humble I am. But the English version is fine.
