这个世界是中性的(neutral), 她就是她—The world is what is.
回复 'elfie' 的评论 : hmm, is this another social template for conforming? But there is really nothing for one-size-fits-all in my view. Let me recall - my children didn't have any "resistance at the beginning" but wreaked a revolution at the end :)))
There are a few things kids have to do, including learning math and English. Playing a musical instrument and sports are also important to their development, so there's nothing wrong about what you've chosen for them when they were little kids as extra curriculum activities. Playing piano once a week is proven to greatly improve cognitive skills. Once a week! Of course there will be resistance at the beginning or in the middle of the process. But parents shouldn't give up or let it slip. Over time the benefits are visible. Maybe that's why your children could become high achievers in their current lives. Martial arts and team sports like soccer, volleyball, and football are also helpful in motor skills and cognitive development. My view is kids need to be encouraged, sometimes nudged to keep working on something difficult to master. It's good in the long run. I never back down when my son says he wants to give up on anything. Well, kids have the inertia just like us adults, that doesn't mean they should just give up. We persevered and they are on the good track now. They're both on the way to get the black belts in Taekwondo in a few months. And the lazy boy is still playing the piano once a week and attending the recitals. His sister has much more stamina and does better on everything because she's a girl. Girls are more responsible and self aware at the young age of 10, 11. All kids, however, want to please parents and teachers. If parents give them full attention and care, they will thrive on pretty much anything they do.
