Evan's Name

Evan is fascinated by letters recently, probably because he started to learn them in daycare. He can sing the alphabetic song perfectly except that he doesn't really recognize most of the letters.

I also noticed that he is very sensitive to the spelling of his name. He would point to his name whenever he sees it and he is especially sensitive to the letters E and V.

He likes to play with letter blocks at home and he would put some letters together and ask me to take a look at his "name". What's interesting was that he started everything right with "ev" and then, according to Daddy, just picked up whatever letters were available and made up his name.

I was following a white Chevrolet home yesterday when Evan exclaimed at the back seat: "Mom, look! That's my name!"

Puzzled, I asked him: "Where is your name?"

"On the car!" he answered.

There was "Chevrolet" written on the back of the car in front of us so I realized that he probably saw the letter "ev" and thought that was his name again.

"Oh, I guess you saw the letters "ev", didn't you? Evan, can you tell mommy how to spell you name?" I challenged him.

"Evrce."

Okay :).

Letter to Granna

Olivia misses Granna a lot, so she decided to write a letter which included one sentence from everyone in our family.

Olivia wrote: Granna, I was thinking that you and Pop could come to our house one day.

Then she asked Evan: "What do you want to say to Granna, Evan?"

Evan said: "Granna, shall we have a picnic in the playground yesterday?"
