澳洲大牌银行, 保险公司通常每年仅招聘一次Graduate Position.

Typical Graduate Position Process:

A, ONLINE APPLICATIONS: (Feb – Apr) (about1000 candidates)

This process includes personal details, employment details and responsibilities as well as educational details. Usually includes application questions. Some of the typical application questions include:
1. Why do you want to work in the Finance Industry?
2. Why do you want to work for us? (the company)
3. Why should we hire you? What are your skills?
4. What is your proudest achievement?
5. Name some of the extra-curricular activities or societies that you have been involved in. What were your roles and what did you learn from these experiences?
6. What are your goals?

B, ONLINE COGNITIVE TESTING: (Mid of Apr) (300 – 400 candidates)

This process is an online test: there are usually three tests.
1. Verbal reasoning
2. Numerical reasoning
3. Abstract reasoning

C, TELEPHONE INTERVIEW: (End of Apr) (150 candidates)

This process involves the HR calling you and asking you a few basic Behavioral interview questions. Usually around 3-5 questions, and should last around 20mins. It is more of a conversational interview, so it is not that strict.

D, ASSESSMENT CENTRE: (Start of May) (72 candidates)

This process is where the recruiters meet the candidates for the first time. First impressions are very important. You should be dressed in business attire, and formal. The assessment centre is designed to see and assess your presentation, communication, leadership and teamwork skills. Usually involves a one hour group case study where you work with a group of 6 people to come up with a solution to the problem presented. You might also be required to do a short 10min presentation to the assessors and your teammates. Other tests may include:
1. An additional cognitive test. Usually the same structure as the one you did online prior.
2. A short presentation about yourself to the whole group.
3. A group case study/ presentation / problem.
4. An individual problem that you must read and solve in a short time frame and present the solution to the group.
5. Some assessment centres may also include an interview with the one HR and one manager.

E, NETWORKING DRINKS with MANAGERS: (Mid of May) (30 candidates, 26 boys and 4 girls)

If you are successful for the final interview you will be invited to attend an important networking drinks night with all the managing directors. This is a good time to make an impression and try to standout. On my networking drinks night there was about 15 managing directors present.

F, FINAL BEHAVIORAL INTERVIEW: (Mid of May to End of May) (30 candidates, 26 boys and 4 girls)

This is an hour long behavioral event interview. All questions are behavioral and occasionally situational. Usually meet with three interviewees, one HR and two managing directors.

G, OFFER: (End of May) (10 candidates)

They call you up to offer you a position, and then send out your offer letter in which you have to complete and sign within 10 days.

H, PROBITY CHECK: (Start of June) (10 candidates)

The company then does a background check on you. This includes criminal record, police reports, academic checks, as well as employment details and referees.
