Song: Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree Artist:Tony Orlando & Dawn
I'm coming home I've done my time Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine If you receive my letter telling you, I'd soon be free Then you'll know just what to do
If you still want me, if you still want me Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree It's been three long years, Do you still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree I'll stay on the bus, forget about us put the blame on me, if I don't see A yellow ribbon round the old oak tree
Bus driver, please look for me 'Cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see I'm really still in prison And my love she holds the key A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free I wrote and told her please
Now the whole damn bus is cheering And I can't believe I see A hundred yellow ribbons round the old oak tree I'm coming home Tie a ribbon round the old oak tree Rebecca Lin 2007 13 Summer In USA/>

This song has brought me back to many years ago.
It seems it was in mid 80s when I was a student of Engish in Beijing. I heard it from Beijing People's Radio around 1:00 pm. Between 12 - 2:00 pm, it was our break between morning and afternoon classes, taking lunch, listening to radio, and having a nap. Radio Beijing had a program of one Engish song per week. Many of us used it a tool to practice English listening ability. For sure, we enjoyed the songs more than English itself.
I appreciate, Rebecca.

I read it in Readers' Digest years ago--
The song was based on an actual incident that occurred aboard a southern bus bound for Miami. One of the passengers explained to the driver that he was just out of prison, having served three years for passing bad checks. In a letter to his wife, he had written that she didn't have to wait for him; but, if she was still interested, she could let him know by tying a yellow ribbon around the only oak tree in the city square. As the bus rolled down U.S. 17, nearing the man's hometown of White Oak, Georgia, the driver was asked to slow down so that all could see whether the ribbon was in place.
To the man's tearful relief-- he saw yellow ribbons tied all over an old oak tree!
Many countries claimed that the story happened in their coutries since it is so touching.
Actually, Japan even made a movie based on this. It is called 幸福的黄手帕!

Kids in the USA normally have a long summer vacation but short Christams vacation.
I can understand how you feel. My five years old Tony wants to be independent, too. He will start kindergarten this fall.
Time flies. Kids grow fast. By no time, they will all leave home and go to college. I will surely miss them.
Have a nice week,
Rebecca

贝卡,
Beautiful with desire and happiness.... Knowing this story in uni but I don't know there is a song!
Sydney's kids have long school holiday at Xmas time(our summer) and shot in July. I miss the time when my son is quite dependent on me but I was not very patient that time...
