There was a new housing development being built right by the street near Evan’s daycare. Evan and I have been witnessing the construction of this particular house closest to the road. Everyday when we pass it we would comment on it.
Yesterday when we passed this house, I said: “Wow, look Evan! The house is almost done.”
“Yes, and those people live in the jail can move in now.” He commented.
Huh?
“What? What do you mean? Why the people in the jail will move in?” I totally didn’t understand why he said that.
“Because people live in jail when they have no house or when their house is being built. We lived in jail when our house was being built.” He claimed.
“We did? But why people have to live in jail when they have no house or when their house is being built?” I wanted to get to the root of this.
“Because people have to sleep somewhere when they have no house. So they can only live in jail when their house is being built.”
I have to say that was some "crazy" thoughts he had, so I asked him: “Where did you learn all these? From daycare?”
“Yeah, my teacher told us.” Then he added: “But that’s not what we learned today at the daycare.”
“Oh! So what did you learn today then?” I asked.
“We learned about doctors.” He answered.
“Wow, doctors! So what did you learn about the doctors today ?”
“They make people look good.”
And you wonder why I am worried whether he will be ready for Kindergarten next year.
