Where should I go?

Life is like a ball. When you hit it harder, it will bounce higher.

I have been working in a university for 10 years. I started to look for a  job three years ago when I got my greencard. Every year, I got one onsite interview. I did not get the offer for the first two interviews although I have improved much in my speech. Anything is harder at beginning. Last year, the third year of my job seeking, I got four onsite interviews. The good thing is that I got three offers except the first one. Thanks god.
I turned down the first offer right on the spot because I do not think the offer is enough. It is amazing that I could turn down a offer which was twice as the salary I currently have. I did it without hesitation. I have the confidence that I will get a better offer later.
During past two months, I got two offers with exactly the same amount of salary. One is in a very good location, however, my friend told me that the company is not so good. One of the manager is a jerk. He told me that the company is a a gargabe in heaven. The location is like heaven, however, the working environment is garbage. I wanted to to go this place because of the good location, while I am afraid of the company.
The other offer is just the opposite. It is in mid-west, rocky-mountains. It is cold and windy in winter time. In summer time it would be very beutiful. The job is better, position is better, people are better, benefit is better, however, it is cold and isolated.
It is a hard decision. Finally, I choose to take the job offer in the mid West. Am I making a wrong choice?
