Another day on the way from summer camp to home, Olivia asked me: "Mom, I don't understand, why Michael Jackson is so rich, he lives in Mansions and everything, but he is still in debt."
"Well, you know rich people spend a lot of money on very expensive things. The way he spent his money was not something you and I can imagine or understand. Even if you have a million dollars, if you spent $100,000 at a time, you will be in debt very soon, right?" I tried to explain.
"Yeah, I guess so. But you know if you have a million dollars, the interest can be thousands of dollars and that is a lot of money! If I were a millionaire, I would give my interests to the poor or donate to a charity or something. I will still be rich as I still have the million dollars but the money I give up can help poor people to buy things they can not afford" Olivia laid out her "being the millionaire plan".
"That's a very nice plan you have there! It is very nice of you to always think about those who are less fortunate. I am very proud of you thinking that way." I was touched by her heart.
Olivia has always had a big heart and is sympathetic ever since she was a little girl. I wish the years ahead of her will never change that.
