最近，来自美国和印度尼西亚的科学家们在美国地球物理联合会2010年秋季会议上首次公布了他们在
印度尼西亚的苏拉威西海域的新发现。这个区域被称为所谓的“珊瑚三角” - 太平洋和印度洋的水流汇集
在此，把亚洲和澳大利亚的不同品种带到苏拉威西海域。

在230万平方英里的区域有既漂亮又古怪的多样性生物，该地区拥有超过65%的世界造礁生物。
科学家们发现了50多种新动物，40种新的珊瑚物种。
