The Glass Is Dead (By Nassim N. Taleb)

"The glass is dead; living things are long volatility. The best way to verify

that you are alive is by checking if you like variations. Remember that food

would not have a taste if it weren’t for hunger; results are meaningless without

effort, joy without sadness, convictions without uncertainty, and an ethical

life isn’t so when stripped of personal risks."

Thus concludes the book "Antifragile" and it feels good to live the message.

I eat nothing in the four-hours before a meal and the most mundane dish tastes

heavenly. In turn, I crave no michelin star or any restaurant food. Almost

everyday, I have to do something sedentary, e.g., working, writing, or reading

the dictionary and something physically strenous, be it weight-lifting, trail

running, or Jiu-Jitsu. Afterwards, resting feels more restful. Antifragile

is about the contrast between the yin and the yang.

True, without the long drought and barren wilderness, we wouldn't have appreciated better the winter showers and transient spring. And beauty also lies in variations and contrasts.
Surely your writing can only be produced in a sedentary state:))
Thanks for sharing the quote and your thoughts. Happy Thanksgiving!
