My Thoughts by Zhang Jiuling

From the high sea a lone swan flies,

Near a pond he’s afraid to be.

A pair of blue birds he espies

Build nest upon the poplar tree,

“Aren’t ye afeard of any sling

While proudly perching on the top?”

“Nice robe’s prone to fingers pointing,

Eager climbers heaven will lop.”

Bird-shooters can't now aim at me,

For I roam far from where they’d see.

V2.

From the high sea a lone swan flies,

Near a pond he’s afraid to be.

A pair of blue birds he espies

Build nest upon the poplar tree,

“Don’t you fear sling shots from hunters

While perching showily atop?”

“Fine clothes attract pointing fingers,

Eager climbers heaven will lop.”

Bird-shooters can't now aim at me,

For I roam far from where they’d see.
