最近在啃小说,傲慢与偏见,英文版的,记得上中学的时候在朋友家发现它的中文版,读了个开头就迫不及待地借回家,两天就看完了。这次却是断断续续的拖了好几个月才看了小部分。看书心要静才行。
书中的人物个性鲜明,简奥斯汀的语言简练又风趣,还有点尖刻。
书一开头,就给全书定了调子,
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife"
这个到现在似乎还是是真理哈。
达西是这样描述初次见面的伊丽莎白的:
"She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me"
这是我觉得最精彩的句子。其实女主角很美,这样可以看出达西是多么傲慢的人.
下次当别人想八卦,又想吊我的胃口时,我也可以说:
"You want to tell me, and I have no objection to hearing it."
这么一来,显得咱也很有文化吧。
下面看看伊丽莎白的爹是怎么夸伊丽莎白的妈,
"....you may send them by themselves, ......for as you are as handsome as any of them (daughters), Mr. Bingley might like you the best of the party"
伊丽莎白的妈想和女儿们一起参加富公子的晚会,伊丽莎白的爹不想让她去,就说了上面一番话,很英国绅士吧。
那伊丽莎白的妈是怎么接受这个赞美呢:
"My dear, you flatter me. I certainly have my share of beauty, but I do not pretend to be any thing extraordinary now."
在我看来,很自信啊。
