Stay With Me Till The Morning lyrics

Dawn breaks above the neon lights

Soon the day desolves the night

Warm, the sheets caress

My emptiness, as you leave

Laying here in the afterglow

Tears in spite of all I know

Cries of foolish sin

I can't give in, can't you see

Though you want to stay

You're gone before the day

I never say those words, how could I

Stay with me 'til the morning

I've walked the streets alone before

Safe I'm locked behind my door

Strong in my believe

No joy or grief touches me

But when you close your eyes

It's then I realise

There's nothing left to prove, so darling

Stay with me 'til the morning

When you close your eyes

It's then I realise

I here's nothing left to prove, so darling

Stay with me 'til the morning

Stay with me 'til the morning

About the composer: Mozart - Clarinet Concerto in A major K.622

About the writer: TOM PARKER

Tom's birthday is: 1 november

The British many-sided self-taught instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer Tom Parker started his musical career at the age of 16 when he became the pianist in a jazz-group that was performing in France and Germany. Between the ages of 18 to 22 he was a member of pop-groups such as “The New Animals” and Jimmy James and the Vagabonds, and toured as keyboard player with John Lee Hooker and Jimmy Reed. .

At 22 he started working intensively in the London record-studios, and from the age of25  arranged a number of hit records by such artists as Mack & Katy Kissoon, Don Fardon, The Nolan Sisters and The Dooleys.

In 1972 he scored a world-wide hit with “Joy” from Apollo 100. The record was number 1 in the USA and several other countries, including the Netherlands.

In 1979 Tom had the idea of making a “rock-opera” version of Handel´s Messiah, with modern singers and rhythm section, as well as the usual orchestra and choir. The idea was backed enthusiastically by Derek Everett of RCA records, who financed the project. The record was very successful, and the song “Stay With Me Till The Morning” from the album became a huge hit for Vicki Brown, who quickly became one the best-loved stars in Holland.

The young Messiah was followed by many more hits, notably “The Young Amadeus” and “The Young Verdi”, both of which sold more than 200,000 copies in the Netherlands.

The NLC has seen many changes over the years, but the guiding principle of presenting classical music in a modern, non-frightening style has remained a constant.

After  many battles with non-sympathetic record people, publishers and concert promoters, Tom is now very happy to leave the business end of things to the NLC´s manager, John Taylor, and just get on with writing and performing music. He lives in Southern Spain with his wife, Marissa, and their two youngest children, Josephine and Elizabeth.
